Our curriculum includes Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, Art, Music, Physical Education, Computer, Health and Library.
Currently, we are using the Scott Foresman reading program. This program combines oral language, shared reading, phonological awareness, writing and grammar. We work in reading centers and in leveled reading groups so the specific needs of all children are met. We assess each child quarterly in order to keep a close eye on their progress. If your child is struggling with a certain skill, they will have the opportunity to work in a small, teacher-instructed group until they have mastered this skill. This program also includes most Science and Social Studies lessons.
This year, we are using the math program Go Math. Like our reading, math is also taught in small, teacher directed, learning groups and centers so that all children are working at the level that is appropriate for them. The program introduces students to a variety of mathematical skills using various hands on activities, cooperative learning activities, as well as, group and oral exercises.
